Advait Thakur (Aditya Roy Kapoor), a young introvert, visits Goa where he meets Sara Nambiar (Disha Patani), a free-spirited girl from London who has come to India for the first time to live life unshackled, like a vagabond (Malang). Extreme opposites of each other, they both live it up together and end up having wild passionate sex. Sara is somewhat of a drug junkie. Jessie (Elli Avram) is the dealer whom they procure drugs from in Goa. Jessie also likes Sara and Advait as a couple. It is shown that Agashe is a process following cop who has a daughter, who attends a rave party. Agashe gets news that a repeat drug peddler is at a rave party. He goes to arrest him, but the druggie takes Sara hostage. There is a shootout in which Agashe kills the druggie, only to realize that in the shootout, his own daughter was shot down and killed. Agashe turns into a vigilante cop. Sara tells Advait that she is pregnant and won't drop her child. Advait leaves town but comes back a day later as he realizes his mistake. By this time Sara is living with Jessie. Now Michael is engaged and is impotent. He is afraid of disappointing his future wife and seeks a prostitute to practice. He is given Jessie address by one of the cops in his team. Michael gets there but Jessie is out for shopping, and he takes Sara for Jessie. He tries to sexually assault her when she refuses to take money for sex. That's when Advait arrives and tries to save Sara. Together they knock Michael unconscious and call the police. Michael's team responds, which includes Deven and 2 more guys. The cops take the couple of a secluded spot where Michael kills Sara with a drug overdose as his men beat up Advait and plant all the evidence on him.Five years later, this incident circles back to ACP Anjaney Agashe (Anil Kapoor), vigilante killer cop (who kills people in Goa who peddle drugs without following any due process) and Michael Rodrigues (Kunal Kemmu), a righteous cop. Advait is in jail. Advait calls Agashe from jail (but does not reveal his identity) and says he will murder someone within 24 hrs. Its 24th Dec. Within 2 hours one cop from Michael's team is found mercilessly beaten up and killed in his own home. Michael & Advait investigate to figure out who sold the drugs which were used in ODing the dead cop. Advait again calls (anonymously) and says he will kill another cop. He ends all calls with "Happy Solstice)This time Agashe tracks the call and finds Advait just after he has murdered another cop, after kidnapping him from the Goa parade. Agashe works out all the cases the 2 cops had solved together on 24th Dec previously. They come with a drug bust in which Advait was jailed for 5 yrs. The 3rd cop in their team was Deven Shivaji Jadhav (Prasad Jawade). Advait kills Deven before Agashe or Michael can come to rescue him.Agashe corners Advait, before he can escape, but Advait surrenders to Michael's men before Agashe can shoot him down as an "encounter". In lock-up Michael admits that Sara had figured out that he was impotent and didn't want this secret to come out and that's why he killed her. Agashe is not aware of the game played by Michael and Michael is counting on Agashe to kill Advait as Agashe sees his daughter's killer in Advait. Agashe figures out that Michael has played a game, when Michael greets him with "Happy Solstice", a phrase that only Advait had used with Agashe so far. Agashe talks to Advait privately and Advait tells him how Michael and 3 men brutally killed Sara. And tonight, was the night for revenge.Agashe is perplexed, as to who will kill Michael in his home when Advait is in his custody. That's when Sara comes back and ODs Michael. Basically, Jessie saves Sara 5 years ago after she was ODed by Michael and thrown into the river. And Sara had stalked her targets for 5 years to create a perfect plan for Advait to execute when he came out of prison. Agashe lets Advait go as the case file on Michael is closed.
