Faced with a premature midlife crisis, Dr Kostis--a single, lonesome, and sad physician--takes up a job as the local practitioner of a sleepy Cycladic Greek island. But there, the winters are lonely, and the summers are bustling with people. Then, as tourists start flocking in, Kostis falls in love after a chance encounter with Anna, an injured and free-spirited twenty-year-old vacationist. However, Kostis plays with fire, and before long, the good doctor teeters on the brink of a meltdown, as visceral feelings lead to embarrassment and bitter humiliation.
