The movie starts picturing the death of Jenny's twin brother, Victor, showing a low fatality car accident. Jenny and her son Andrew visit Detroit, where her family is originally from as well as the place Victor resided and passed. After a brief meeting and introduction to Jenny's family, the mother, Helen, is drawn out to be cold and distant, while the father is supposed to be caring. It is revealed through random dream sequences, that Jenny is actually a triplet, and her other brother, Andrew, has passed before Victor did. Jenny's aunt, Joan, who is oddly religiously affectionate throughout the film offers to let Jenny to stay with her father while Victor's car is getting fixed - Joan stated that Victor wanted Jenny to have the car - after Jenny declined wanting to ask to stay with her mother. Jenny then asks Joan if she could stay in Victors condo, and Joan allows her to. Jenny and Joan arrive at the condo, and Jenny just so happens to know where Victor keeps his alcohol because "it's where she would've put it". After a conversation full of nothing between Joan and Jenny, Jenny looks through Victors art, finds his phone, and finds a tin box with a handgun, and a picture. The picture has indistinguishable handwriting on it, and she visits the place written on the back of the picture. The location is an art bar - the owner, Tanja, is Victors ex girlfriend. Another conversation full of nothing happens, and Jenny goes home after the encounter. A brief segment introduces a character named Kash, placed in a recording studio. The whole scene deals with Kash recording a song. After this, Kash and a man appear at the art bar. They discuss Kash's future career, and as Tanja approaches, the man states that he can't wait to work with Tania's boyfriend; the art bar has Victor's work hanging all over the bar, and his alias is 'Gonzo'. After the man tells Tanja that he can't wait to work with her boyfriend, she leaves distraught, and is followed out by Kash, where yet a conversation full of a whole lot of nothing happens again. After Victor's car is fixed, Jenny takes Andrew back home, where she walks in on her husband Mark hooking up with a woman, where they then have an argument implying that Mark had been chronically cheating on Jenny. Jenny and Andrew then come back up to Detroit, and stay at Victors condo. In the art bar, as well as finding Victor's phone, Jenny is informed that a show is coming up featuring Victor's art, and about another upcoming show featuring Kash being signed to a label. Jenny attends the party, and talks to Tanja about a whole lot of nothing, when a woman pulls Tanja to the side and tells her that Jenny shouldn't be here tonight because it just isn't right. After their conversation, Kash is introduced to speak in front of the audience at the show, says a whole lot of nothing, and then starts rapping indistinctly. It fades out, and Kash meets Jenny outside of Victor's condo, where Kash also lives. They go inside, talk about a whole lot of nothing, and the next day comes. Tanja and Jenny are walking through the woods, when Tanja reveals that the night Victor crashed his car, Kash was driving, but when the car was found, Victor was in the drivers seat. Jenny then theorizes that Kash and Victor may have swapped spots after stopping at a gas station, but is left to her own thoughts. Jenny then decides to speak to her father about what he would do if one of them were in trouble, and he states that he would do anything it takes. After that, Jenny texts Kash to let her pick him up before his signing party because she wanted to talk to him. After picking him up, Jenny drives around, then asks Kash to drive because of her high heels. After a while, Jenny throws her shoes off and it hits a box in the backseat, which is the box that held the gun and the picture. She takes the gun out and makes Kash drive to the location where the accident happened, and forces Kash to confess at gun point while he also gaslights her for no reason. After doing what they do best - talking a whole lot of nothing - Kash insists that Jenny shoot him if it's his time to go, to where he walks past Jenny, and she then pops to caps in his back. Jenny then walks back to the car, leaving him there, and drives to Victor's condo, where she suffers a breakdown and eats a cinnamon roll while the police knock down the door, ending the film there.
